Ministers Popham and Dix,
There is now clear evidence of coronavirus being present in multiple mink farms in Europe. While the Ministry of Agriculture has assured non-profit The Fur-Bearers that mink farms have strict guidelines, documentation obtained via FOI shows that none of the 13 mink farms in British Columbia were inspected from January 1, 2019 through March 2020 - more than a year without an inspection.
As a concerned resident of British Columbia or potential visitor, I am alarmed that:
The Ministry of Agriculture has a responsibility to the people of British Columbia to uphold their own regulations (see lack of inspections) and determine the biosecurity and safety of 13 mink farms. I expect full response to these points as well as your plan to inspect, secure and test these facilities.
