Millions of animals are killed for their fur every year in Canada. It's hard to fathom just how many individuals that is: but imagine the entire population of Vancouver or Calgary disappearing overnight. Try to grasp what Nova Scotia would be like if all the people were just gone one day. That's how many fur-bearing animals - each an individual - are caught, injured or killed in legal traps, or kept in tiny cages to be anally electrocuted or gassed.
With your support, we can make change.
Already, we are seeing big changes – hope is on the horizon. Just recently popular designers including Gucci, Versace, DKNY, Michael Kors and Donna Karan committed to going fur-free. London Fashion Week announced their runways would be fur-free, and major cities in the United States are outright banning the sale of fur. The headlines around the world are encouraging, and we need to build on this momentum here at home in Canada.
We are sharing the stories of people who have worked on fur farms and, through the trauma they witnessed, learned that fur cannot be humane. We are sharing the stories of people who have seen an animal fighting for their life in a trap and learned that fur cannot be humane. We are pushing retailers and designers to create fur-free policies. We are creating and providing educational materials to help channel peoples' inner compassion to say no to fur.
With your help, we will #MakeFurHistory.
If you haven't done so, please sign our petition calling on Winners to create a fur-free policy!
Our Mission: To protect fur-bearing animals in the wild and in confinement through conservation, advocacy, research and education (C.A.R.E.).
